HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES FOR WHOOPING COUGH
I just had a personal experience with whooping cough: four weeks ago, I started to have coughing fits, with lots of mucus coming out. Thinking I had perhaps a chest infection, I took the homeopathic remedies that fit the symptoms at the time: Hepar Sulph for green mucus, Ipecac for cough that makes you gag, worse at night and so on.
After the symptoms changed, no more green phlegm, less coughing fits during the day, I noticed that the worse was in the night: I would have to suddenly sit up with a choking sensation in my throat and an alarming sound would come out of my mouth, as I struggled to breathe…
Somebody suggested I had whooping cough and I asked my GP to get tested and, sure enough, that was it!
I found out that, at the time of writing this post, there is an outbreak of whooping cough in the UK, but not only the UK. In fact, it looks like it is happening a bit all over the world.
The only way to diagnose for sure, is by blood test.
What is whooping cough?
The technical name is pertussis and it is a bacterial infection of the respiratory tract. Despite widespread vaccination for this illness, there is an outbreak of whooping cough every 3-5 years, according to national statistics.
Conventional medicine has antibiotics and steroids to offer; antibiotics are ineffective after three weeks from the start of the symptoms, as the bacteria is dead by then, however, the symptoms of night coughing fits can go on for months after that.
